What I Offer

Play Therapy.JPG

The purpose of Play therapy is to help children with their difficulties, and work through their concerns in a safe space within the therapeutic relationship. Play is a child´s natural language. I believe that with the right support children can access the wisdom within. I work at their pace and support them by building a trusting therapeutic relationship where they can safely explore what they need to process. My aim is to help them develop a strong sense of self as a prerequisite for expressing buried emotions. I believe that play, art, creativity and symbols enable children to explore and make sense of their experiences.

I will provide your child with a variety of resources, including art materials, clay, puppets, sand play, books, storytelling, movement and music. By using these resources, children can express their feelings and experiences, and communicate to the therapist what it is like to be in their world. This enables me, as the play therapist, to help children regulate their emotions and make sense of their experiences.

I work with primary school children who experience severe mental health problems such as anxiety, selective mutism, children who have experienced trauma responses, those who have experienced psychological and sexual abuse, and attachment difficulties.

I am a Registered Member of Play Therapy UK. I am in ongoing supervision and adhere to the Code of Ethics of Play Therapy UK.

Adult psychotherapy

People of all ages come to therapy for a variety of reasons. These may include loss and separation, stress, anxiety, abuse, bullying, chronic illness, disability, trauma, life transitions and behavioural difficulties, to name a few.

I use an integrative, holistic and client-centred approach. I offer a safe and confidential space where we can meet to discuss why you have come to therapy, what you expect from it and your vision for the journey ahead. You will then have the opportunity to explore, at your own pace, any issues from the past or present, whether conscious or unconscious, that are affecting your life and how you function in the present moment. Initially, my work will focus on building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship, which will hopefully enable you to access your inner resources and resilience. My aim is to create an authentic dialogue describing cognitive, emotional and sensorimotor states, as well as bodily sensation through breath, movement and words. Together we will find a safe way for you to move towards the intensity of the experience that you want and need to integrate.

I can also use creative methods such as art, mindfulness, creative visualisation and metaphor to explore difficulties in more depth or beyond words.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP). Creative Clinical Supervision

Online & In Person

As Clinical Supervisor of Play and Creative Arts Therapists (PTUK) I understand supervision as a shared journey in which I attend to the practitioner's clients, the therapeutic relationship, and the wider systemic and ecological context. In doing so, I am committed to improving the quality of their work, supporting the client relationship, and continually developing the therapist self, their practice, and the wider profession. I combine my humanistic approach, person-centered approach, and creative language within my supervisory practice which meant supporting the therapist’s human experience as much as their clinical work. By supporting the practitioner in their whole self, their sense of self-confidence, self-responsibility, and self-reflectivity becomes the lens through which they engage with their work. By remaining connected to their process, the supervise is supported to practice safely, remaining curious and active as to the personal impact of their work, and mindful of the crucial elements such as parallel process or transference/counter-transference.

I offer clinical supervision to other helping professionals, I have experience supporting staff in the School environment. I am passionate about supporting those working in high-risk and high-trauma environments. The emotional response to challenging situations ensures they can offer the best care to those they support. By caring for their trauma responses and triggers, they become more self-reflective and less reactive and can offer a more patient and compassionate kind of care.
